Topic: Stone Labs Lake Erie Research and Educational Programming

Dr. Brian Alford: Dr. Alford is the assistant director of Stone Lab and oversees all aspects of the lab’s operations especially its scientific research and educational programs. Brian resides in Port Clinton and is a fan of Magee Marsh and the new Visitor Center.


Topic: Ohio Birds 4-H Project

Evelyn is a 5th grader at Oak Harbor Intermediate School. She is completing the second year of the Ohio Birds 4-H project and is looking forward to sharing her accomplishments with the Friends of Magee Marsh.
Evelyn has the opportunity to present her first-year Ohio Birds project at the Ohio State Fair.
As a member of the Ottawa County "Goal Getters" club, she enjoys attending their regular meetings, the Ottawa County Fair, and the 4H camp on Kelleys Island.

September Meeting -- Wednesday, 3rd to be held up stairs in the Decoy room at 7:00 PM.


Topic: Lake Erie Islands Conservancy

Lisa Brohl: Lisa Brohl, the chair of the Lake Erie Islands Conservancy has a B.S. degree from the Ohio State University in Natural Resources (Parks/Interpretation). She received her M.S. from OSU in environmental science with a specialty in wetlands.
Her educational work experience includes working with the National Park service, as an instructor at the Ohio State University Stone Laboratory (workshops and Local Flora college courses), former Nature Camp Director, Road Scholar group and birding leader as well as being a certified Project WET, WILD, and Learning Tree facilitator.
Lisa has also worked as a biological technician with the U. S. Geological Survey at their Lake Erie Biological Field Station and for the U.S.D.A. Wildlife Research station in Sandusky, Ohio.

October Meeting -- Wednesday, 1st to be held up stairs in the Decoy room at 7:00 PM.


Topic: Eagles of Sandusky County

Debbie Haubert: Debbie is a naturalist with the Sandusky County Parks. One of her responsibilities is to oversee the eagle nest count in the county. She collaborates with volunteers to keep track of the county’s 58 eagle nests.
